HENDRA VIRUS FOR HORSEOWNERS

I first met Kate back in 2008 shortly after the two recorded outbreaks, the one at Redlands and of course her own tragic experience with this deadly virus.

Since then a group of us have been working behind the scenes (and sometimes well in front of them) trying to make the authorities stop treating this deadly issue with such contempt.

The tragic outcome of the Cawarral outbreak the following year which claimed the life of another veterinary (Alister Rodgers), like Kate, strengthened my resolve to do more to raise awareness.  It also made me more determined to make the authorities accountable for their actions. 

On the 16th April this year I published a website http://www.hendraawareness.com/

which has possibly one of the most comprehensive collections of documents on this virus, in terms of how, when, where.  You'll find information that you will not find anywhere else, because the authorities would have liked it that way ;-)

I also started an online petition, which is still running and we need to keep spreading the word and getting signatures to show the Govt the growing concern over this virus.  You will find links to the petition on several pages on my website.  Please help spread the word, this is not just a Queensland problem, the Govt protect the flying foxes, they have a moral obligation to also protect us...
